Ugh...As some of you might know, my dear city has been flooded, no wait, INUNDATED in a months worth of rainfall delivered in six hours. My house, art, and treasured literature collections (and family of course, how could I forget them) are fine. However, the homes of many others including but not limited to my Grandma's and my bro's girlfriend (who happens to be on dA) have been severely affected for the worse. Another storm is about to hit, may the heathen god's help us all. (and may my home, art, books, and blood be saved)

And now too little free time...

Sun Jul 12, 2009, 6:02 AM
School recently resumed and I got accepted into the Ateneo Art Guild. I hope to be able to post my artwork that got me accepted in a week or so. I haven't had much time to go on dA to comment and view art cuz of my schedule. I live far, so I leave the house at 4:30 or 5:00 A.M and get home at around 7:00 P.M, so I don't have much time to work on my art. I have quite a bit of projects on my hands (from my family and classmates, hehe..) so at least I have something to do for my art in case I run out of ideas.

I've been having some problems with my technique, specifically with making a painting actually look like it's finished and several other problems. To deal with this, I plan to copy a series (5-10) of highly detailed works done in acrylic by various artists on canvas paper to get the hang of it and learn as well as develop my techniques. Of course I will give these artists full credit, and I probably wont post them in the first place.

Too much free time!!!

Tue Jun 16, 2009, 9:46 PM
School started on June 2 in Ateneo High, and a week or so later, classes are cancelled for 2 weeks (to resume on the 22'nd) cuz' of swine flu (or as my best friend calls it, "the piggies"). I thought the unexpected 2 weeks of FREE TIME would be great, but honestly, it sucks. After all my buildup of energy in anticipation of the workload (I'm a new student) and taking summer math remedials, the work just crashes, RIGHT WHEN I'M ALREADY USED TO IT. I mean, I woke up at 4 in the morning the first few days! I usually wake up at that time because I have to leave at 5 am since I live 2 goddamn hours away. Now I always feel like I'm slacking off for no good reason (when in fact, I have nothing on my hands at the moment). I guess I was just a bit too used to being busy...

I was hoping that I could use these 2 weeks to work on my art and post some new stuff, but I've been in a block for the past couple of weeks (perfect time to get a block), and I haven't been able to come up with any new ideas. That and the damn weather is maddening, it goes up to 35 degrees INDOORS, and then drops to 28 and back to 32 again. Heat makes me lethargic (and stupid). most of my ideas now are suggested by my family members, and all I've been doing is retouching old paintings, working on old ideas, and writing journal entries on dA.
